About Compress Image to 200 KB

A 200 KB limit shows up constantly: forum avatars and attachments, job-application portals, school and government upload forms, and email systems that reject anything larger. Hitting it by hand is tedious — you export, check the size, it's 240 KB, you lower quality, try again. This tool does that loop for you using a binary search: it compresses at a mid quality, measures the result, then raises or lowers quality and repeats until it lands just under 200 KB. You get the largest, sharpest image that still fits the cap.

A note on PNG

PNG has no quality dial, so to reach a strict byte target the engine progressively shrinks the dimensions instead. If your image is a photo, converting to JPEG usually hits 200 KB at a much higher resolution — worth choosing when transparency isn't required.

FAQ

What if my image can't reach 200 KB?
For photos this is rare; if a PNG resists, switch to JPEG output, which compresses far more.
Will it look blurry?
The tool keeps the highest quality that fits 200 KB, so most photos still look clean.
Why 200 KB specifically?
It's a common upload ceiling for forms, forums and email attachments.
