About Crop Image

Cropping removes the parts of an image you don't want, keeping only a selected rectangle. It's the simplest, most useful edit there is: straighten a tilted shot by trimming edges, cut out distracting background, focus attention on the subject, or remove sensitive information at the margins of a screenshot. Because you're discarding pixels, cropping also reduces the file size — sometimes a lot, if you only keep a small region.

Crop with the end in mind

If the image is headed for a specific place — a profile photo, a banner, a product thumbnail — know the shape it needs first. For fixed shapes like a circle avatar or a 16:9 banner, the aspect-crop tool locks the ratio for you. For freeform trimming, this tool gives you a fully adjustable selection box. Cropping is non-destructive here: your original file on disk is untouched.

FAQ

Does cropping lower quality?
No, it just keeps fewer pixels; the kept area is unchanged.
Can I crop to an exact ratio?
Use the avatar/aspect tool to lock ratios like 1:1 or 16:9.
Is my original file changed?
No — a new cropped image is created; the original stays intact.
