About Favicon Generator

A favicon is the tiny icon shown in a browser tab, bookmark bar and history list — the little image next to your page title. A site without one looks unfinished and is harder to spot among many open tabs. Browsers and devices ask for the icon in several sizes: 16×16 and 32×32 for tabs, 180×180 for an Apple touch icon when someone saves your site to a phone home screen, and 192×192 / 512×512 for Android and progressive web apps. This tool produces that whole set from a single source image.

Start from the right source

Use a square image with a simple, bold design — fine detail and small text vanish at 16 px. A solid background usually reads better than transparency at tiny sizes. After downloading, drop the files in your site's root and link them in the page <head>; the .ico file covers older browsers while the PNGs handle modern devices. Generating icons locally means your unreleased logo never gets uploaded anywhere.
